Choosing your writing mat

Starter Mat - If your child is under 3 years, I would start with a pre-writing mat (sold as a single mat or in a pack). This focuses on first name only and pre-writing skills.

Single Mat or Pack - A selection of writing mats can be bought as a pack offering greater value but they can also be purchased as single mats too.

Font - Most children start learning using our standard font but some school will teach using a precursive font (with lead in and exit strokes on the letters). If you know your child will be be taught using precursive handwriting in their reception year then pick a precursive mat.

    When I needed ideas for my god daughter’s toddler for Christmas she immediately suggested Flashcards from My Little Learner. I was very impressed with their products, all aimed at different age groups, and got a gift set of different flashcards for a 19 month old. Well made, bright and promptly delivered.
