Choosing your writing mat

Starter Mat - If your child is under 3 years, I would start with a pre-writing mat (sold as a single mat or in a pack). This focuses on first name only and pre-writing skills.

Single Mat or Pack - A selection of writing mats can be bought as a pack offering greater value but they can also be purchased as single mats too.

Font - Most children start learning using our standard font but some school will teach using a precursive font (with lead in and exit strokes on the letters). If you know your child will be be taught using precursive handwriting in their reception year then pick a precursive mat.

Help you child count and recognise numbers with these great interactive matching mats.

Like all of our learning resources, each mat is double sided with a harder phase on learning on the back ...help your child match the number of apples on the front which will also help with number recognition and then on the back help them associate the number of apples to the written word.

They are wipeable too, so the numerals can also be traced to help with number formation which is also great practice for pen control.
