Description
Pre-writing skills are the key skills children require before they are able to write.
These skills contribute greatly to the child’s ability to draw, colour and write and play a major role in their ability to hold and use a pencil.
The 9 key pre-writing shapes make up most letters and numbers and your child will typically be able to master these shapes with practice when they are developmentally ready (see photo gallery for 'what to expect').
Our pre-writing learning mats are designed to help your child practice tracing and copying the key shapes and patterns required before moving onto letter formation. They build confidence making sure your child is truly ready to start forming letters.
Pushing a child to learn to write too early can be detrimental to their future learning in all subject areas so it is very important to take their time and get it right to avoid forming bad habits.

We have ordered two sets so we can keep one at the grandparents and one at home. My little boy instantly took to them and has progressed so quickly! The quality is fantastic and they are great for taking to restaurants to keep my son busy ☺️

My daughter is 4 in September so we have another year to wait before she starts school. I wanted to get her something to help her recognise and start practicing writing her name. As soon as we opened the package she immediately wanted to write on the card and she absolutely loved it. She did such a good job tracing the lines as well. She is already recognising her name and the letters within it when we are out and about now. Highly recommend this product.

My son is not very enthusiastic about mark making and he is a bit of a perfectionist. So if something doesn't look how he thinks it should (like writing his own name),he doesn't want to return to the activity.
He chooses one of the cards to complete every morning before nursery, and I've noticed his confidence increase. He sees that he has written his name and is so proud of himself. Its a great resource to have and I will be buying others when my son is ready.

These are fab! My 3 year old has just started using his and is enjoying practicing tracing his name. I’m sure they will get lots of use!

My son is 2 years 9 months. He’s been desperate to do a ‘J’ for his name and was so proud of himself after writing his name! The difference between his first and third attempt was amazing!

My 3.5 year old absolutely loves these mats. He has been quite reluctant to try any writing/ tracing even in magazines etc. Thank you for including the pre-writing shapes! The font is a great size and the tracing areas are very clear. Will definitely recommend to friends 👍

This is such a great set. My daughter really enjoys doing it and her pen control is getting so much better already

The shorter length means he can’t hold it as high up as he does normally... which is great as he now had more control and the triangular shape is easier for him to hold, as previously we have had issues teaching better grip than the whole palm wrapped around... It took work also but it definitely helped the newer grip develop...

Couldn’t reckoned this product more. My 4 year old boy who is very stubborn and doesn’t take instruction well after using this board for about a week can now write his name himself! Absolutely amazing and a must have he doesn’t start school u till September either! Thankyou so much x

I bought 3 sets as birthday presents. One set being for my daughter who has just turned 3 and loves drawing. The set helps her practice pre-writing shapes and gives her exposure to her name. The stars and dots help with start points of letters and the variety on each of the boards is great.
